Preliminary information shows the mayor's driver didn't comply with Cleveland police policy, according to Chief Annie Todd.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Mayor Justin Bibb’s driver is under investigation for potentially violating Cleveland police policy right before a Thursday morning crash in downtown Cleveland that briefly sent Bibb to the hospital.
City officials have not named the driver, nor released a copy of the accident report that city policy mandates must be filed within 24 hours of the crash. Ohio law requires such police reports to be released to the public immediately upon request, but the city has not responded to cleveland.com’s request.
Another driver, who appears to have had the green light at the time, crashed into the side of the mayor’s SUV as it entered the intersection. City officials have said Bibb and his driver are OK. Bibb was taken to the hospital on Thursday as a precautionary measure.
