The mayor and his driver were transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb was involved in a car accident Thursday morning.One other vehicle, a mini-van, was involved in the crash. That driver was not injured.
The mayor was seen walking from the accident and sitting down in a nearby RTA bus shelter, before being transported by EMS to a local hospital to be evaluated.19 News obtained security video from the crash. The video appears to show the driver of the mayor’s car turn on the emergency lights approximately 100 feet before the intersection.
City officials said at the time of the accident, “the mayor’s driver was engaged in emergency response driving.”The City of Cleveland provided the following statement to 19 News: Mayor Justin Bibb’s vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle accident this morning on the corner of E.12th and Superior at approximately 8:55 a.m. At the time, the mayor’s driver was engaged in emergency response driving. The mayor, his driver and the other party involved are all fine. EMS transported the mayor and his driver to the hospital as a precaution.
