A severe thunderstorm watch is up for the region through 10 p.m., but any storms will probably be isolated. Temperatures Wednesday will be up around 100 again.
Most of the area saw temperatures rise into the 100s today. In the city, at least 104 for a high makes it the hottest day since July 7, 2012, when it hit 105. It’s also the second time on record we’ve had three days at or above 101, which only previously occurred during the start of the Dust Bowl era in 1930. With all this heat around, some storms could impact the area through the evening. They should be isolated, but any could pack a punch.
Maybe an isolated storm this evening. Any that do form could produce frequent lightning, brief heavy rain and a risk of isolated wind damage. Mostly muggy and unpleasant. Temperatures slowly dip to the upper 70s and low 80s.If you haven’t had enough of this weather days ago, you’ve got another chance to soak it up tomorrow. It should be a little less hot, as clouds are more numerous, and showers and storms could become widespread in the afternoon, some of which could be severe.
