Temperatures head to the mid- and upper 90s most spots tomorrow. A cold front will crash the party with some late-day storms.
It was another decent 90-plus day, given low humidity. Still, you might have noticed the extra few degrees of heat as our next big spike in temperatures approaches. Fortunately, it will be short-lived, and maybe even followed by a small break. We could use one, since today was the ninth day in a row with highs above 90 in the city. A cold front might help to end this run with a bang.
It’ll still be pleasant, if on the toasty side, this evening as we remain mugginess free, for now. Partly to mostly clear conditions persist through the night, and humidity levels increase notably with time. Mainly mid- and upper 70s for lows, although D.C. could land at 80.The heat cranks up again. Highs in the mid-90s to around 100 are common across the area. With dew points — a measure of humidity — approaching 70, it will feel about five to eight degrees hotter.
The local office of the Weather Service is highlighting a threat for damaging gusts as high as 70 mph or beyond. And even though it has been very dry of late, rainfall may cause localized brief flooding, especially in urban and poor-drainage areas.June 24, 2024
