Pittsburgh’s issue is multi-faceted. For example, they failed to get the play call into the offense in a timely fashion on Justin Fields' first fourth-down attempt, which allowed the Browns to tee off. Meanwhile, the Steelers' drives and points petered out due to their poor short-yardage blocking. Consistently, there were either free rushers or guys getting blown off the ball. When there are so many free rushers, part of it is schematic.
Until the Steelers can solve their woes in the short-yardage spots and the red zone, it will not matter if they stay ahead of the sticks or not.
