A man who stepped in front of an oncoming pickup was struck and killed in Lakeside on Saturday, California Highway Patrol officers said. The crash was reported after a 56-year-old Lakeside man entered eastbound traffic lanes in low-lighting on Woodside Avenue near Prospect Avenue about 8 p.
m., CHP officers said. A Ram 150 driving 40 mph struck the man, investigators said. He died before he could be taken to a hospital.
