A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that killed a 28-year-old man in Barrio Logan last week, San Diego police said Monday. Geoffrey Goodwell was arrested Sunday following the death of Abdifatah Hussein, who was attacked in an alley on Logan Avenue near 16th Street around 11:15 p.
m., homicide Lt. Lou Maggi said in a news release. Multiple people reported the incident. When officers arrived, they saw Hussein collapse to the ground, Maggi said. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Detectives at the scene learned Hussein had been approached and surrounded by a group of four people, Maggi said. Investigators quickly detained two people, but they were released pending further investigation. Investigators later found security camera footage and received a description of a suspect. Officers canvassing in the area Sunday spotted Goodwell, who matched the description of one of the assailants, near 17th Street and Imperial Avenue and arrested him. He was booked into San Diego jail on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail.
