Randy Vásquez facing the Royals' Alec Marsh in sixth big-league start of the season
Joe Musgrove will not make Saturday’s start as the Padres will instead recall right-hander Randy Vásquez from Triple-A El Paso. The team did not immediately provide an update on Musgrove, who was due to make his third start since returning from a triceps strain. The Padres are also contemplating what to do with Tuesday’s start as Yu Darvish exited Wednesday’s game with left hamstring tightness. The 25-year-old Vásquez had a 7.
82 ERA in five big-league starts this year, the last in which he allowed three runs on 10 hits and no walks in six innings in a loss in Atlanta. For the season, Vásquez has struck out 13 against four walks over 21⅔ innings in the majors. He is allowing a 1.219 OPS against lefties and an .833 OPS against righties. The Padres have not yet announced their lineup. Here is how the Royals will line up: Royals right-hander Alec Marsh is off to a strong start after posting a 5.
