Padres continue to fail to shut down other team after productive innings; Randy Vásquez provided hope he can fill role in rotation
Good morning from Chicago, The Padres offense is showing no signs of cracking under the weight of the burden the team’s pitchers are repeatedly placing on it. Still, it can’t go on like this. What is happening with the pitching staff the last two weeks or so is perhaps an anomaly. But if this continues, it will almost certainly destroy the Padres' chances of being a good team. If you read yesterday's newsletter you already are familiar with one chief problem.
“I worked in the minors on my mechanics and everything that I needed to work out. Unfortunately, it was a loss for us. But it felt really throwing strikes. … It was really important for me because, obviously, that's something that I can control. And I need to show them that when I have these opportunities, I can be able to contribute for the ballclub.
