) - A strong line of storms that moved through Baldwin County in the early morning hours Thursday, March 12, 2026 left behind toppled trailers and structural damage at Flowerwood Nursery in Loxley.Workers arriving Thursday morning found overturned trailers near the loading docks and several structures with damaged metal roofing along with snapped wooden framework and beams.
The cargo trailers were empty at the time of the storm.The National Weather Service out of Mobile responded to assess the damage. Baldwin County EMA Director Tom Tyler said the agency found no evidence of a tornado. “According to the Loxley Police Department, they got blown about forty feet, so it was a substantial wind,” Tyler said. “The National Weather Service out of Mobile did go take a look and she said that they saw no signs or evidence of a tornado but there certainly was a very high wind that occurred sometime overnight last night.”Because the storms moved through overnight while the business was closed, no injuries were reported. Tyler said the damage at Flowerwood was the only damage reported across the county. “Obviously, you want to plan for the worst and hope for the best and that’s kind of what this situation was weatherwise last night,” Tyler said. “But the good news is people are getting watches and warnings and they’re taking action to try and protect themselves, protect their families and their property.
