SUNDAY: mainly overcast, windy, scattered rain, mild, high 65.TUESDAY: mostly cloudy, breezy, cold, high 32. Low pressure is situated over the Missouri-Kansas border this afternoon. A warm, humid breeze is rolling up the Ohio River Valley and pushing temperatures in Ohio well-above average. At midday, most of Central Ohio is already in the mid-to-upper-60s and climbing toward 70. The breeze is beginning to pick up as the low-pressure center rumbles eastward. Visible satellite shows clouds over most of the area already and clouds will continue to thicken for the afternoon. Very strong storms are expected this evening in Northern Illinois and Indiana. And a few storms may roll into Central Ohio during the night. For the overnight hours, Central Ohio has a Marginal Risk for severe storms with gusty winds and medium hail. Temperatures will remain very mild overnight, and the relative humidity will be high; it may even feel slightly muggy.Wednesday is an ALERT DAY. Showers and thunderstorms in the morning may affect how strong the storms get later in the day. The morning storms may produce isolated severe conditions, but the afternoon and early evening storms are likely to be stronger. The Storm Prediction Center gives most of Central and Southern Ohio a Slight Risk for strong storms. The afternoon/evening batch of storms has a better chance of producing damaging wind gusts, moderate hail, and the potential for low-end tornadoes. Central Ohio is likely to see the strongest storms between 3pm and 8pm, mainly from west to east. We will remain #WeatherAware throughout the day. Make sure you have a reliable way to receive watches and warnings, keep your mobile device charged, and practice your severe weather plan ahead of time. The cold front will move out of the state during the evening and showers and thunderstorms will taper off behind it. Much cooler air will slide into the region making Thursday dramatically different. As high pressure races across the eastern third of the country, including the Ohio River Valley, we will see some clearing. But our respite won’t last very long. Low pressure returns to the Upper Great Lakes by Friday morning, dashing through the region with gusty winds and a chance for scattered showers. As the system drags a cold Front through Ohio, winds will get very strong, potentially enough to cause some damage. Gusts of 45 mph or more will be possible. Broad high pressure arrives, briefly, on Saturday.And then we repeat the pattern. Another giant, deep, low-pressure center slides into Chicago Sunday morning, pushing rain and gusty winds ahead of it, and dragging much colder air into the region behind it. By Monday, the precipitation transitions to a mix of rain and snow. Accumulations, if any, will be minimal.
