Could we ever see Grant Holloway, former high school football star turned reigning Olympic champion, race DK Metcalf?
We’ve seen Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf go up against high-level track athletes before. How about a sequel but with one of the greatest track athletes of his era? No, not Noah Lyles. He’s busy with an eventual race with Tyreek Hill, evidently. On the newly launched “Beyond The Records” podcast, Olympic 110-meter hurdles gold medalist Grant Holloway was asked by Lyles, the reigning 100-meter Olympic and World champion, whether or not he’d race Metcalf. Holloway didn’t mince words.
He’s a three-time World outdoor champion, and he captured that elusive Olympic gold medal in Paris back in August. At 12.81 seconds, he’s the second-fastest in history behind fellow American Aries Merritt. Holloway is also the world record holder in the indoor 60m hurdles and a two-time World champion in that discipline. When you add in his multiple NCAA indoor and outdoor accolades, he’s already staked his claim as the best sprint hurdler we’ve ever seen.
