The city hasn't seen significant rainfall for nearly three weeks.
After weeks of dry weather, New Yorkers can finally expect some significant rainfall Wednesday night into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
“Really the best chances of rain probably won't be until sometime during the day Thursday, maybe Thursday afternoon,” meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki said , adding that chances of rain should taper off by Thursday evening. The New York City area could get about a quarter inch of rainfall by the time the weekend rolls around. The five boroughs haven’t seen that much water since Sept. 7, Ciemnecki said. There was just a small sprinkling earlier this week.“Once that cold front finally moves through Thursday night, we're going have some drier conditions for Friday,” he said.
A slight chance of showers is back in the forecast for Saturday, but it shouldn’t be a washout, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures through the weekend should hover in the mid to low 70s.Brittany Kriegstein covers all breaking news around New York City, with a focus on crime and gun violence.
