Number of flood evacuees drops in Johor, Malacca

THE number of flood evacuees in Johor and Malacca continues to drop while the situation remains the same in Pahang, with an overall 39,846 people being sheltered in 128 relief centres tonight., the number of evacuees fell slightly to 39,677 as of 8pm from 40,005 at 4pm after three relief centres – SMK Sultan Alaudin in Muar, Yong Peng High School and Sekolah Agama Air Puteh in Batu Pahat – were closed. Currently, 125 centres are still open in four districts.
Batu Pahat remained as the most badly hit district, with 38,878 evacuees from 10,847 families, followed by Muar with 524 evacuees ; Segamat, 212 evacuees ; and Tangkak, 63 evacuees . The water in two rivers in Batu Pahat still exceeded the danger level with Bekok Dam in Sungai Bekok at 19.39m and Sungai Senggarang in Senggarang at 3.62m and Sungai Muar in Bukit Kepong, Muar at 3.37m., the number of evacuees in Jasin dropped to 24 from five families tonight, from 55 at 2pm. All of them are being housed at SK Parit Penghulu., the flood situation remained the same, with 145 people from 51 families still being housed in Rompin district.
Ninety of them from 29 families are at SK Leban Chondong and 55 from 22 families are at SK Kampung Aur. – Bernama, March 13, 2023.
