JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor has seen a slight increase of 161 people, bringing the total number of those seeking shelter at temporary relief centres statewide to 42,638.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the number of evacuees rose to 42,438 at 8am on Sunday compared to at 42,447 at 4am on the same day.

"One temporary relief centre has also been opened in Batu Pahat, bringing the total of active relief centres to 155 as of 8am. "The number of districts still affected by the floods remains at four after the closure of all relief centres in Mersing on Saturday ," said the Committee It added that Batu Pahat has the most number of flood victims as 39,870 people are seeking shelter at the 115 temporary relief centres in the district.

"Meanwhile, the number of evacuees at their other districts remains the same since 4am where Muar has 1,457 evacuees, Tangkak and Segamat ," it said.
