JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in the state dropped to 43,793 people at 4pm from 44,779 people at noon on Saturday (March 11).
The State Disaster Management Committee said the victims were from 12,465 families and are currently placed at 162 temporary relief centres in four districts, namely Batu Pahat, Muar, Tangkak and Segamat.
"Batu Pahat remained with the highest number of evacuees with 39,919, followed by Muar , Tangkak , and Segamat . "The PPS with the highest number of evacuees is at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Telok, Parit Yaani, with 1,338 people, Dewan Perwira UTHM, Parit Raja, with 1,330 people, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sejagong, with 1,207 people, all in Batu Pahat," it said in a statement here.
Six river monitoring stations had also recorded a dangerous level warning involving four rivers namely Sungai Muar in Muar, Sungai Bekok, Sungai Simpang Kiri, and Sungai Senggarang in Batu Pahat.
