JOHOR BARU: The number or flood evacuees in Johor has seen a slight decrease with some 44,934 people seeking shelter at 173 temporary relief centres as at noon Friday (March 10).
The state disaster management committee said 284 people were able to return home over the past four hours as the flood situation improved.
"As of noon, the number of evacuees has dropped to 44,934 people compared to 45,218 just four hours ago. "One relief centre has also been shut down in Kluang as the number of evacuees in the district went down from 86 at 8am to 56 at noon," the committee said in a statement. It noted that Kluang has the least number of flood evacuees as of noon while Batu Pahat remains the district with the most victims.
"There are currently 173 temporary relief centres statewide, including 111 in Batu Pahat alone where some 38,135 people are seeking shelter."As of noon, six districts have been experiencing rainy and gloomy weather.
