JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Batu Pahat and Mersing has increased again while the situation in the rest of Johor improves.

The number of evacuees recorded in Johor as of 8pm on Wednesday , was 42,851 people from 12,083 families compared with 41,053 from 11,727 families at 4pm, said the state disaster management committee.

“The victims are from 8,986 families and are seeking shelter at 100 temporary flood relief centres ,” it said in a statement.“Other than Batu Pahat and Mersing, the numbers at the other affected districts such as Muar , Tangkak , Segamat , Kota Tinggi and Kluang have reduced as more evacuees were allowed to go home.
