Floods: Number of evacuees continues to rise in Batu Pahat, Segamat

JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor has seen a slight increase in two districts despite clear skies since morning.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the number of evacuees rose to 42,706 at noon on Sunday compared to at 42,638 at 8am on the same day.

"The number of flood evacuees went up by 68 people after Batu Pahat and Segamat districts saw an increase in the number of evacuees over the past four hours. "Meanwhile, the number of evacuees in Muar went down slightly while Segamat saw the number of victims remaining the same since 8am," it said. It noted that three more flood relief centres have also been closed in Muar and Segamat, bringing the total number of active relief centres to 152 as of noon.

"Batu Pahat currently has 39,994 people in 115 active temporary relief centres, followed by Muar , Tangkak and Segamat .
