After UTSA drove 55 yards in 23 seconds to extend the game with a field goal, Houston...
Ronald Cortes / ContributorAs UTSA and No. 24 Houston traded blows at the end of regulation and through three overtimes, the Roadrunners were tantalizingly close to yet another milestone — the first win against a ranked opponent in program history.
After Houston erased a 14-point deficit to take a lead late in the fourth quarter, UTSA rallied to extend the game. Houston notched a first down at the 2-yard line during its second possession of overtime, and after two thwarted attempts to punch the ball in on the ground, Tune scrambled into the end zone for a 1-yard score. Tune found Nathaniel Dell on the mandatory two-point conversion attempt to give the Cougars a 35-27 lead.
The Cougars set up the final sequence by storming back to erase 14-point deficit during the fourth quarter, kicking a 35-yard field goal with 23 seconds remaining to take a 24-21 lead. Houston opened the scoring in the first minute of the second quarter, as Tune found Dell on a corner route in the right side of the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown on third-and-3.
