'Having my permanent shop within the iconic Pike Place Market is pretty dreamlike, to be honest,' owner Andrew Corax says.

Head to the cozy side of Pike Place Market called "Down Under," and you'll find a brand new shop called Owner Andrew Corax stocks a huge collection of Tarot and Oracle decks; in fact, he showcases more than 200 titles, perhaps the widest variety in the Pacific Northwest.

The shop also features his handmade, vegan candles, incense, bath bombs and body oils, all crafted without synthetics and made with natural botanicals. "Having my permanent shop within the iconic Pike Place Market is pretty dreamlike, to be honest," Corax says. "I fell in love with Seattle at the Market over a decade ago. I wandered through it daily for years when I lived in Belltown." The entrepreneur — who lists his other titles as "tarot reader and educator, apothecary maker and cat dad" — says he can’t imagine a more perfect space for his shop to put down roots. After traveling the country with his metaphysical pop-up, he returned to Seattle and spent six months as a"The guest artist program was a lovely on-ramp and really helped introduce the neighborhood to my tarot-inspired handmade products," Corax says. "I personally produce them all just a block away from the shop in my apartment in Post Alley." He describes the Market as "an inherently liminal space, where people from all over the world open their senses and curiosity to the creative and multicultural fractal of our community." He goes on to call it both "very old and always new, a little haunted and very alive."Courtesy Pike Place Market PDA A professional Tarot reader since 2024, Corax started sharing his practice with the public at the beginning of 2024 at a farmers market in Las Cruces, New Mexico. "It pulled me down the rabbit hole quickly and it became clear that this was what I was meant to do," he says. A year prior, he had quit his corporate job and started traveling full-time to reset his life. "I witnessed firsthand what a transformative tool Tarot could be to guide us to greater self-awareness, recover from trauma and to learn to trust in the intuition. I knew that I needed to share it." He also knew that in founding his practice, he needed to do so without compromising his values. "I left the corporate world browbeaten by a constant barrage of unethical mandates, deceptive virtue signaling and plain-old-fashioned greed," he says. "It made me spiritually and physically ill." He vowed never to return and sealed the commitment by getting “LIBERATION” tattooed across his knuckles. Now, his goal is to empower others to follow their own true will. "It is also my practice of the Buddhist principle of 'right livelihood,'" he says. "To work in a way that aims to reduce suffering in the world." He sets the scene of his little Seattle shop: a cozy goth tree fort with big windows, lined with cedar boughs and heavy industrial fixtures. Many times each day, he gets told how great it smells — a benefit of using only plants to scent the products. "There’s a beautiful warmth and realness to it," he says, "and it reaches out into the Market to invite wanderers in."One wall of the shop features the “Fool’s Journey,” a walkthrough of the 22 Tarot Major Arcana and the 110 botanical-infused products he's created to support the journey. The rest of the shop is mostly floor-to-ceiling Tarot and Oracle decks. The selection changes daily, and there’s a special section for local artists. "You’ll find me standing behind my reading table in the back, where I take walk-in readings and after-hours sessions and classes," Corax says. He claims to be an open book with his practice, and believes this to be a great place for beginners to explore. "Anyone can learn it, anyone can practice it, and everyone brings their own perspective to it," he says. He admits it wasn’t long ago when he was a hardcore skeptic, so he knows what it's like to be looking at this from the other side. "I’m here to help people find empowerment through their relationship to Tarot," he says. Corax has many beautiful decks for beginners, and everything is open to test-drive. "I’m honored to be able to work with customers to find their perfect deck," he says. "I also offer a guarantee that allows customers to exchange a deck if they bring it home and it doesn’t speak to them." Corax finds this an ideal place for his practice and shop, since Seattle and the broader Pacific Northwest support a rich ecosystem of spiritual practices outside of organized religion. "You see it in the incredible shops that have thrived here for decades, like Tenzing Momo, Edge of the Circle, Gargoyle’s Statuary and Ghost Gallery," he says. "When I moved back here in April of 2025 and starting popping up at local events across the region, it was clear that there’s just a higher density of people seeking insight through metaphysical tools and divination techniques than anywhere else in the U.S. that I ventured." Though it's tough to pick favorite decks, a few of Corax's "newer, locally created, truly jaw-dropping" ones include: Eldritch Overload by Bee Ho & Thom Dennick at Weird Works ; The Mushroom Hunter’s Arcanum by Joe Buckley ; Anima Mundi by Megan Wyreweden at Creeping Moon ; The Sasurabito Tarot by Stasia Burrington ; The Microcosmic Oracle by Julia Y . "Each of these decks has extremely high production quality and a super insightful guide," he says. "Each also represents a totally distinct perspective of the cultural and ecological prism that is Seattle."As an ethical vegan whose shop is 100% free of animal products, Corax also donates 2% of monthly gross revenue to animal welfare nonprofits. "I do what I can within my sphere of influence to raise awareness and improve the lives of animals," he explains. "With the demands of running the shop and creating all of my vegan handmade products, I don’t have as much capacity for direct action or service as I used to." Before self-employment, he volunteered in multiple leadership positions at"I think it’s important as the only all-vegan, non-food retailer in Washington state to make my values clear," he says. "I hope it challenges people’s stereotypes of what veganism and animal advocacy looks like. I don’t preach it; I live it. You don’t have to care about animal rights to enjoy my shop. But your patronage makes a difference either way."is open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., with Tuesdays available by appointment. Whenever open, 15-minute walk-in Tarot readings are available too.
