The possibility of a new leisure centre in Appleton is being considered as part of an 'options analysis' by Warrington Borough Council. Last year, it was reported that Warrington did not receive the Government's levelling up funding, missing out on money for a £47million package of projects.
A spokesperson stated: "If the levelling up funding became available it would be our intention to bid for the funding. We are looking at options on how improvements can be made to the Broomfields Leisure Centre. Warrington South Conservative MP Andy Carter commented: "Labour councillors have missed opportunities to make improvements to the Broomfield Leisure Centre time and time again."
