A self-proclaimed hate group continues to make their presence known in downtown Nashville.
Safety remains a concern, especially afterMetro Police say Neo-Nazi protesters were demonstrating on 3rd Avenue last weekend whenof Ontario, Canada hit Johnny Cash's bar employee, Deago Buck, in the face and the ribs with a Nazi flag.
McCann is charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct, and Buck was arrested on misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and resisting police.Metro leaders like Jacob Kupin are upset, saying this is hurting Music City's community and image. “This is not our city," Kupin emphasized. "This is not the love and care that we have for each other that we regularly see. And my hope is we can stamp out what’s going on right now and not see it come back again."“There is not a right to intimidate people, there’s not a right to make people feel scared for their life and their safety, and I worry that’s what we’re starting to shift to,” Kupin explained.
FOX 17 News spoke with a security company working with some of the downtown bars that have been threatened, and they say they've never seen such a high volume of serious threats towards downtown businesses and employees.Metro Councilman Kupin says the rally he's organizing is scheduled for August 4 to bring Nashvillians together to show the love this city has and not the recent hate that's been going on.
