North Belfast murder victim described as a “young woman who adored her children”
A North Belfast mother-of-four murdered in her own home by her partner was today described as a “young woman who adored her children”.
Prior to this, the senior judge was addressed by Crown barrister Liam McCollum KC, who said Ms Morgan was last seen alive by her mother on December 17, 2021. Ms Morgan had tea at her mother’s home and during this visit, she received a FaceTime call from McIlvenna. “She went into the room where another one of grandchildren was at Caoimhe’s side touching her shoulder saying ‘mum, mum, mum’.
“The opinion was that the injuries were caused by least ten blows either by closed fists, kicks or stamps.” He said he went to her house around midnight and struck her twice to the head with his hand and she immediately dropped to the floor and he left through the back door. He said he was in a complete state of shock when he found out she was dead and denied murdering her.
The prosecutor also listed a series of aggravating factors such as Ms Morgan being murdered in her own home, the attack was “persistent”, that her young children were at home at the time and “exposed to the murder scene” and that he didn’t summon any help.
