Judge says victim impact statements 'suggest there has been significant effect on them, their lives and their future'

Colin Yorke, 44 and formerly of Meyrick Park in the Oldpark district, was told by Judge Gordon Kerr KC he will spend a further 12 months on supervised licence following his release from custody.

Prosecution barrister Kate McKay said the offences came to light in June 2021 when one of the victims was in a friend’s house when she became upset and made disclosures about Yorke. Senior defence counsel Neil Connor KC urged the court to follow the recommendations in a pre-sentence report compiled by the Probation Service which stated it required a lengthy period of time to deal with Yorke’s underlying issues relating to his offending.

Judge Kerr said he had read the Victim Impact Statement which stated how Yorke’s offending had affected the girls who are now teenagers.
