A pair of state champions moved to No. 1, marking the only changes to top-ranked teams in this week’s ASWA high school basketball rankings.
Trinity earned the past two Class 3A girls state championships, but moved up to Class 4A and has been ranked No. 2 for the previous polls this season. A convincing win by Madison Academy over previous top-ranked and defending class champion Good Hope elevated Trinity to No. 1, followed by Madison Academy at No. 2.
Girls No. 1 teams remaining atop the poll are Class 7A Hoover, Class 6A Park Crossing, Class 5A Scottsboro, Class 3A Lauderdale County, Class 2A Decatur Heritage, Class 1A Spring Garden and AISA Springwood., while ASWA third-ranked Huntsville is No. 34, up from No. 38, and ASWA second-ranked Central-Phenix City is No. 59, up from No. 63.
