About 80 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in 11 countries, the World Health Organization says, warning that more cases are likely to be reported.Earlier, infections were confirmed in Italy, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, the US, Canada and the UK - where the first European case was reported.

WHO's Europe regional director Hans Kluge warned that "as we enter the summer season... with mass gatherings, festivals and parties, I am concerned that transmission could accelerate".
