The Mobile County Communications District , the county’s 9-1-1 emergency communications center, has become the first 9-1-1 service in Alabama to achieve accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies , a nationally recognized credentialing authority for public safety agencies.
CALEA accreditation recognizes agencies that meet a comprehensive set of professional standards for safety communications, operational effectiveness and organizational accountability. The accreditation process involves rigorous review and verification of procedures and performance to align with nationally accepted best practices. MCCD provides 24/7 9-1-1 call taking and dispatch services for Mobile County, serving more than 412,000 residents across 1,230 square miles and coordinating emergency responses with multiple partner agencies.The accreditation was formally honored today at the Mobile County Commission meeting, where MCCD leadership was recognized for this milestone achievement in public safety communications.
