More is being revealed about the timeline of the doomed Titanic sub, which went missing in the Atlantic. apiotrowski9 9News MORE:

The US Coast Guard said the vessel, vanished in a remote part of the North Atlantic Ocean, appeared to have suffered a "catastrophic implosion" and the crew's families had been notified.

The five aboard were pilot Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate; British adventurer and billionaire Hamish Harding; Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman; and French explorer and Titanic expert Paul-Henry Nargeolet. The vehicle crawling on the sea floor kilometres under the ocean's surface eventually found a total of five large pieces of debris he said was "consistent with a catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber"."On behalf of the United States Coast Guard and the entire Unified Command, I offer my deepest condolences to the families.

Mauger said personnel and some of the nine vessels still on site would begin to leave the area in the next 24 hours but he couldn't say when remote operations on the sea floor were expected to end. US Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger said the debris found was consistent with a "catastrophic implosion".

The Titanic's captain ignored warnings about ice in the North Atlantic, and the movie director said deep-sea explorers voiced concerns about the Titan submersible, saying it was too experimental to carry passengers. Experts had emphasised that was an imprecise approximation to begin with and could be extended if passengers had taken measures to conserve breathable air.
