A television comedy writer who visited the Titanic wreckage in the same submersible currently missing with five people onboard has revealed he had to sign a “massive waiver” that says you could die on the trip. 7NEWS

He said before boarding the sub, passengers are required to sign a “massive” waiver that lists “one way after another that you could die on the trip”.“It’s never far from your mind, you try to put it out but as I was getting onto the sub I thought, well, ‘This could be the end’.Writer Mike Reiss went on the Titanic expedition run by OceanGate.Reiss said he had taken three different dives with OceanGate, the company which runs expeditions to the Titanic, and said he lost communication each time.

“It’s effectively a carbon fibre tube that was designed together with NASA and Boeing, and it’s got two titanium domes on either end. One of them has a viewport on it,” he told Sunrise on Wednesday. “During the week that we were there on the ship, preparing for the dive, there is daily safety instruction, daily technical and engineering instruction, there are risk assessments done every single day, obviously prior to the dive itself, very detailed.people are on the missing vessel

The submersible usually takes two hours to descend to the wreck, which lies at a depth of about 3,800m in the Atlantic Ocean.
