Thousands of users experienced disruptions to Microsoft services, including Outlook, Teams, and Office 365, on Saturday afternoon. Microsoft confirmed the issue and attributed it to a service update, stating that they have reversed the update and are monitoring the situation closely.

Microsoft announced late Saturday that a majority of users were recovering from an outage that had affected tens of thousands of users' access to their Outlook email accounts and other programs. 'We are investigating an issue where users may be unable to access Outlook features and services,' Microsoft 365 Status, the official Microsoft account for 365 service incidents, stated.

The number of reports indicating disruptions to services such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure surged after 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Downdetector reported more than 37,000 individuals experiencing an Outlook outage and approximately 24,000 reporting an outage in the tech company's 365 service, while roughly 150 users reported issues with their Teams accounts. According to Downdetector reports, the outages were most prevalent in the New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles areas. Users also took to social media platform X to express their frustration over their inability to access their Outlook emails, raising concerns about a widespread Microsoft outage. Microsoft later confirmed the suspected cause of the outage and stated they had reversed the 'impacting service update.' 'We have entered a period of extended monitoring to ensure the service remains stable and to address any remaining impact on other Microsoft 365 services,' the status update explained. In a Microsoft 365 Status update posted on X, the company assured users, 'We will continue monitoring until the impact is resolved for all services.
