Rain didn't stop hundreds of kids coming out and enjoying themselves and snagging school supplies at the 4th Annual Gulf Coast Back-to-School Bash in Mobile.

) - Rain didn’t stop hundreds of kids coming out and enjoying themselves Saturday at the 4th Annual Gulf Coast Back-to-School Bash at the Michael Figures Community Center in Mobile.

Although the rain pushed activities indoors at the facility on Donald Street, those in attendance were still able to get free school supplies, food and haircuts. The event also had activities, games, bounce houses and much more. Houston Owens told FOX10 News why it’s important to connect with everyone in the community and what the mission is all about.

“We want to take it to the source. We want to reach out to the youth, catch then in a vulnerable stage and we have all types of people that come out and support that same mission,” Owens said. “This year our purpose is to push the voting locally, and just the entertainment and getting people to come out and have a good time, inspire the youth, for the most part,” he said. “So, we try to reach out to different city vendors, different small businesses to come out and get to come out and unite to connect the dots and create a domino effect.Owens thanked everyone who attended.
