Ohio State commit Marcus Johnson scored 28 points while battling illness in a head-to-head matchup with Lutheran East and friend T.J. Crumble, who also is a top 100 prospect in the Class of 2026. Garfield Heights remained unbeaten with a 59-57 win at the Scholastic Play By Play Classic.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Marcus Johnson and T.J. Crumble have known each other since first grade. They have played basketball together since third grade, sometimes as teammates on travel teams and now as opponents during Sunday’s Scholastic Play By Play Classic at John Carroll University.
Battling an illness that he suspected could be the flu, Johnson didn’t miss the opportunity to play. Not only are their teams two of the best in Northeast Ohio, but they are the area’s top prospects in the Class of 2026 with national standing., they met at center court after being named MVPs. Johnson scored 28 points with seven rebounds for the Bulldogs . Crumble, a 6-foot-7 forward, led Lutheran East with 20 points and nine rebounds.
