A man was fatally stabbed at the Fiesta grocery store in Garland. Police say the suspect left, then turned himself in.
A violent and deadly attack inside a Garland grocery store has left shoppers shaken and a community searching for answers. Investigators are still working to piece together what led up to the attack and what exactly happened inside the store.
NBC 5’s Katy Blakey reports from Garland as detectives continue to gather information.Friday night, just after 8 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing call at the Fiesta grocery store in the 2900 block of South First Street.Officers found a man with stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Garland police later identified the victim as 39-year-old Franky Seleyma Arrendondo Barrios. “The victim entered the store and would appear to be just shopping, and he was in the back of the store where allegedly this suspect went up to him and just stabbed him in the neck,” said Lt. Pedro Barineau, Public Information Officer for Garland Police.Saturday morning, Garland police shared a photo with the public of a man believed to be involved. Taken from surveillance video, it showed a man wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, a hat and gloves.Police identified the suspect as Juan Pedro Reyes, 32, of Garland. He is now facing a murder charge. No bond has been set.“It’s a very complicated situation because we’re still trying to determine exactly why this suspect pinpointed this victim,” Barineau said.
