Temperatures will cool off a bit this week across San Diego County but they’ll still be higher than normal.
San Diego, CA – February 16: A man rides a bike through Pacific Beach during a rain storm on February 16, 2026 in San Diego, CA. High temperatures across San Diego County this week are expected to be cooler than they’ve been since early March.
But the National Weather Service says the region should still be warmer than normal — and a weak storm passing through Wednesday won’t provide badly needed rain. Forecasters say San Diego International Airport will finish the month with only a trace of rain. It averages 1.48 inches of precipitation in March. It also appears that the average monthly temperature at the airport will turn out to be about 5 degrees above average, finishing around 66 degrees. The region is at the end of a remarkable heat wave that lasted about two weeks, breaking records from Borrego Springs to Oceanside. The temperature in San Diego reached 81 or higher on seven days. San Diego’s daytime high is expected to be 75 on Monday, 73 on Tuesday, 72 on Wednesday, 69 on Thursday, 71 on Friday, and 76 on Saturday. The seasonal average is 68. Forecasters say the lack of rain is beginning to increase the threat of wildfires in the backcountry, a situation that could grow worse next weekend when Santa Ana winds are predicted to arrive from the Great Basin.Trying again: Environmental groups want a rehearing on California rooftop solar rulesSan Diego loses population as immigration nosedives.
