Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating after a man allegedly threw a small explosive device outside a Fort Walton Beach-area restaurant on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025.No one was hurt and there was no significant damage to the building, authorities said. Deputies responded to the 788 Beal Parkway around 2:30 p.m. regarding an armed disturbance in progress, the OCSO said. The sheriff’s office said witnesses reported that a man pointed a rifle at people in the parking lot, then threw some type of small explosive device in their direction outside of a Jimmy John’s restaurant. A short time later, deputies stopped the suspect’s vehicle near one of the gates to Eglin Air Force Base on State Road 85, the OCSO said.The OCSO and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives continue to investigate the incident.
