) - A 37-year-old man was booked into the Escambia County Jail Monday night on a homicide charge and other charges following the discovery of a deceased woman in a Pensacola residence, according to police and jail records.
It was about 3:30 p.m. Monday when officers responded to a suspicious circumstance at a residence in the 900 block of North 7th Avenue, police said. A 911 call was made alerting law enforcement that an unresponsive female was inside the home. Upon arrival, officers learned she was deceased. The circumstances surrounding her death were suspicious, leading to a homicide investigation, according to police.
The Pensacola Police Department said a suspect was identified as Devarius Cateryl James, who was found and taken into custody.James was booked into the Escambia County Jail and charged with homicide , obstructing justice , resisting officer without violence and failure to report a death.
