Hector Chacon, 31, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony; transaction of a firearm by a category one restricted person, a second-degree felony; and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, a second-degree felony.
On Friday, a man called the Salt Lake City Police Department and said he was threatened with a gun over an owed debt, the affidavit states.Man facing attempted murder charges following St. George stabbing Chacon had reportedly struck the man in the face multiple times with a handgun, breaking his nose and cutting his eye.
The victim told police Chacon drove him around in his car and threatened him so much he "was in fear that he would be shot if he tried to escape," the affidavit states. He was on the phone with 911 during part of this assault. Chacon allegedly stole the man's wallet. The victim's driver's license was later found in Chacon's bedroom, along with more than 30 grams of cocaine, a scale, multiple small plastic bags, and a "substantial amount of small denomination currency banded together by rubber bands," the affidavit states.
