Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center is launching a new CDL training program in March with multiple start dates available.
Published: Jan. 28, 2026, 8:00 a.m.ELYRIA, Ohio -- The Lorain County Joint Vocational School Adult Career Center is launching a new commercial driver’s license training program in March, expanding local workforce training options for residents seeking careers in truck driving.
The new program will allow participants to earn a Class A CDL through a 160-hour training model that blends classroom instruction, range practice and on-road driving.The CDL program is offered as a Career Development course, and is approved by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education, ensuring the training meets established educational and workforce standards. Multiple course sessions are scheduled throughout the spring and early summer. Upcoming class dates include March 2 through April 1, April 13 through May 13, and May 26 through June 25. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the first week, then transition to a Monday through Thursday schedule for the remainder of the program. Officials say night classes are projected to begin in summer 2026.Career Night The program launch comes as demand for truck drivers continues nationwide.
