A second arrest has been made in the Long Island case of Nafiah Ikram.
Last month, authorities arrested a 29-year-old Brooklyn man in connection with the 2021 attack on Nafiah Ikram. On Tuesday, a law enforcement source says they'll announce a second arrest.It’s been nearly three years since a Long Island woman was attacked with acid in front of her own home.
She spoke alongside her parents on Friday as the search continues for her attacker. It wasn't clear how the individual might be connected to the Brooklyn man charged in mid-February in the woman's case. The suspect is expected to appear in a Nassau County courtroom later Tuesday. The district attorney's office has scheduled a press conference for after that hearing.Nafiah Ikram's nightmare unfolded in Elmont in March 2021, when an unknown assailant threw acid in her face, prompting years of facial reconstructive surgeries. Surveillance video captured the night when Ikram, then 21 years old, had finished a shift at CVS and was returning home when the suspect ran up and poured acid on her face. Although she can't forget the past, Ikram remains focused on her recovery and the progress she's made after countless surgeries on her eye, nose, and skin.It's been one year since a Long Island college student was attacked with acid in front of her home.
