Middleburg Heights police blotter reports a stolen Lexus, a drunk driver found asleep in his SUV, and the arrest of a wanted woman.
A 2015 Lexus IS 250 was stolen at about 3 p.m. Dec. 27 from the parking lot of BP, 17810 Bagley. The victim had left the car unlocked and the engine running while he was inside the store. When he walked back outside, the car was gone. Security video showed the victim entering the store. About five seconds later, an unidentified male stepped into the car and drove away.A Maple Heights man, 23, was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 1 for driving drunk on Bagley.
Someone called police and said the man had stopped his Ford Escape in the westbound lanes of Bagley near Raising Cane’s, 18120 Bagley. When police arrived, they saw that the Escape’s engine was running and the gear was in drive. The man’s foot was on the brake. Police, after several attempts, woke the man and had him put the car in park. The man was disoriented and confused about his location. The man smelled like alcohol. He admitted drinking “a couple” of whiskey shots earlier. The man failed field sobriety tests.A wanted Cleveland woman, 34, was arrested at about 11 a.m. Dec. 31 on Engle near Sheldon Road. Police saw the woman driving a Mazda Tribute northbound on Engle. They checked the license plate and learned that the sport-utility vehicle’s registration had expired in September. Police activated their overhead lights and the woman stopped the SUV after pulling into the parking lot of Subway, 6629 Engle. The woman, whose driver’s license had been suspended, was wanted by Cleveland police. After Middleburg Heights police cited her, Cleveland police took her into custody.A Morrisvale, West Virginia man accidentally left a 9 mm handgun inside his room at a hotel at 17525 Rosbough.
