Readers suggest the Toledo Bend Reservoir as a solution to water shortages in North Texas; urge protesters to direct protesting to Israeli officials; worry about our democracy; and criticize Gateway Church for having layoffs.Re: “Reservoir Needed for North Texas’ Future — Unless an alternative is found soon, go with Marvin Nichols project,” Monday editorial.
So, the basic question is, are we willing to sacrifice our current lawns and landscaping to save the good citizens of Red River County from having to sacrifice everything they have worked so hard for? Are these comparable sacrifices? I think not.Re: “Pro-Israel conference spurs outcry — Palestinian supporters plan protest; organizer says work even more crucial this year,” Thursday Metro & Business story.
A conversation I had with a cheer mom at the hotel for a separate event was striking. She shared that other parents were afraid to attend due to the demonstrations. When she asked why the crowd was protesting, I explained that the conference supported Israel, while the protesters opposed Israel. She asked, “But why are they protesting you? What can you do?”Great question. If people want to oppose Israel’s policies, they should direct their concerns to elected officials or the Israeli consulate.
