Readers give a shout out to Mariely Lopez who designed the “I VOTED” sticker, the Hamilton Park UMC voting center and the Audelia Road Branch Library poll workers.Sticker contest winner Mareily Lopez speaks with Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, Commissioner John Wiley Price of District 3 and Dr. Elba Garcia, commissioner of District 4, at a Dallas County Commissioners Court meeting.
Congratulations to the talented 16-year-old Mareily Lopez of Samuell High School who designed the sticker given to voters. I was so happy at my age to have a woman on the ballot for president, and then finding out a girl had won the prize for the “I VOTED” sticker design. When you vote, look at this sticker and realize how far this girl can go in our world if we recognize women.
— I was in and out in 15 minutes. Perfectly organized. About 20 voting booths. Lots of close-in parking. I was treated with courtesy and respect.— Due to recent hip and shoulder replacements, I have some difficulty walking . My husband and I voted last week at the Audelia Road Branch Library in Lake Highlands.
Although the line stretched for blocks, we found a handicapped parking spot near the building and prepared for a long wait. Soon after exiting our car, a young man came up and asked if we were there to vote. We said “yes” and were immediately escorted to the exit door and were given the next available spot to check in. Took about 10 minutes.
