Letters to the Editor
Readers welcome new teachers; don’t support raises for the Dallas City Council; agree with an editorial that criticizes birther politics; support funding for poorer schools; and are sad about the loss of another Luby’s.
It is imperative that the city of Dallas commits to protecting those that have protected our city by restoring cost-of-living benefits to the police/fire pension and providing parity with the other Dallas city employees. And the City Council must tackle this before it agrees to pay itself more year over year.
Your points were clearly stated with correct assertions. China and Russia will not be the downfall of our great nation, but false conspiracies that run wild on social media will be.As far as Donald Trump setting the record straight, he is the father of “birther” conspiracies. This editorial misses the point. I was privileged to work as a volunteer in an after-school program in an underserved community. The school had primarily Hispanic and Black students. The school district was growing fast and therefore building new schools in the affluent new neighborhoods sprouting within it.
