A lake-effect snow warning issued by the National Weather Service is in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday in Erie County, Pennsylvania, where six to 12 inches of snow is expected to fall. The heaviest snowfall amounts are expected over the northeastern part of Erie County, with snowfall rates of up to one to two inches per hour possible at times. Erie County could also see winds gusting as high as 35 mph Tuesday afternoon near the lakeshore.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Crawford County until 4 p.m. Wednesday with additional snow accumulations between three and five inches expected. The greatest snowfall amounts are expected in the northern part of Crawford County, with the heaviest snow anticipated Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. A winter weather advisory is also in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Thursday in Warren County, with total snow accumulations between three and six inches expected. McKean County will also be under a winter weather advisory from 1 p.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Thursday, with total snow accumulations between two and four inches expected. Meanwhile, in Cambria and Somerset counties, residents will need to contend with frigid cold temperatures. A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday in those counties, with very cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero expected. A cold weather advisory also remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday for the higher elevations of Fayette, Westmoreland, and Indiana counties, where very cold wind chills between 10 and 20 degrees below zero are anticipated.While this region isn't expected to receive as much snow as northwestern Pennsylvania, it might experience some flurries on Thursday and Sunday evening. Temperatures could dip into single digits on Monday evening and Tuesday, January 21st. Rain and snow are also possible on Saturday. Scattered snow showers are possible on Monday as well
