KOTA BARU: Kelantan police arrested 13 local men and a woman, and seized various types of firecrackers and fireworks, worth more than RM100,000, between March 25 and April 5.
State police chief Comm Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the arrests and seizures involved six districts, namely Kota Baru, Pasir Mas, Tumpat, Machang, Tanah Merah and Pasir Puteh.
He said that all suspects were investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, which provides for a prison sentence of up to seven years or a fine of RM10,000 or both, upon conviction. Meanwhile, in JELI, a labourer was detained with 6,000 yaba pills, in a car on the roadside of Jalan Jeli-Dabong, Kampung Lama near Kuala Balah, here on Tuesday.
