JOHOR BARU: Politicians from all parties have been reminded not to use mosques and surau in Johor as a platform for political mileage, following a decree by Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

State Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said Tunku Ismail, as Johor Islamic Religious Council chairman, decreed that mosques and surau in the state were prohibited from being used for political speeches.

Mohd Fared also said the order would be posted at all 850 mosques and 2,000 surau throughout Johor immediately. “Besides being a place for prayer, mosques also function as a place for the development of dakwah and the spread of knowledge through lectures or religious talks by certified lecturers or speakers.
