What can we expect from the new consulting firm of Natasha Archer, who spent 15 years styling the Princess of Wales?
Earlier this week, Archer announced the opening of her own style consulting agency, which sees her as founder and creative director. “After almost two decades working within private households, I’m delighted to begin this new chapter,” she wrote on Instagram, “offering discreet, bespoke advisory services for those seeking considered guidance across wardrobe, personal presentation, creative direction, and the finer details that shape important moments,” Archer posted alongside a black-and-white portrait of her.
There are few details regarding the new business other than the logo, and the promise that more will be revealed on April 2. In a separate Instagram grid post, Archer shared her mission statement for the agency. “We provide discreet, thoughtful guidance across wardrobe, personal presentation and creative direction, help individuals and families present themselves with confidence and complete assurance,” it begins. “Through precision and refinement, we shape the details so that every impression feels effortless, assured and entirely seamless.” That promise is already a guarantee if one considers the way Archer shaped the style of the Princess of Wales for more than a decade. She began her tenure at Kensington Palace as a personal assistant, before Middleton entrusted Archer to dress her in the Alice Temperley and Jenny Packham gowns she wore to numerous royal engagements. With Archer’s amicable exit, the Princess of Wales is eager for the focus to be on her work rather than her outfits. “When the palace announced earlier this year that they were not going to comment on what the princess is wearing, it was significant,” Claudia Joseph, author of How to Dress Like a Princess: The Secret of Kate’s Wardrobe, told Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl last fall. “She stemmed the interest in her outfits, to a degree, by going for elegant suits over eye-catching dresses when she’s out on engagements. Her intention is to have the focus on her work and on comfort over anything else. She always dresses for the occasion, and she’s grown into her role. The trouser suit is part of that progression.” Archer has always remained behind the scenes, except for a few stolen snaps here and there, and a single appearance at Royal Ascot—where she sported a look in full Kate style. But now appears to be the stylist’s moment to shine on her own—through the potentially famous figures her new styling agency may soon attract. Originally published by Vanity Fair Italy.
