Second baseman Jose Altuve is one big step closer to making his Astros debut this season, perhaps as soon as Friday against the Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park.
“He’s doing pretty good,” said Baker, who visited by phone with Altuve earlier Wednesday. “He’s a lot of pitches down there and his timing is getting better. He’s a Dodgers staff down there with guys throwing 95 to 98 miles per hour — I heard that’s one of the better pitching staffs in that league.Baker said “I don’t know” when asked if Altuve will make his 2023 debut with the Astros on Friday night against the A’s.
