James Gunn says he'll stop debunking DC Universe rumors, as the DC Studios boss calls out lies that are just trying to get attention. As the DCEU is coming to an end, DC Studios is working on their new DC Universe, a new attempt at trying to construct an interconnected franchise. Together with Peter Safran, Gunn and the rest of DC Studios have several movies and shows in development, including 2025's Superman: Legacy.

The filmmaker is also often regularly tagged to weigh in on rumors that appear on Twitter. Prior to Gunn posting his tweet, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery had not attempted to shut down any of the reports that were getting attention on social media.
